New Edition
New Edition is an American R&B group from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 1978. The group was originally composed of Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown , Ronnie DeVoe, and Ralph Tresvant .
Johnny Gill joined the group in 1987, replacing Brown. New Edition is often credited with pioneering the “boy band” movement of the 1980s and 1990s, influencing later groups such as Boyz II Men , Backstreet Boys, and NSYNC. The group achieved significant commercial success with hits like “Candy Girl,” “Cool It Now,” and “Mr. Telephone Man.” They are known for their smooth harmonies, energetic performances, and contributions to the R&B and pop music landscape.
