Nothing's Ever Gonna Stop (The Way I Feel)
“Nothing’s Ever Gonna Stop (The Way I Feel)” is a product of Cherrelle’s pivot away from her longtime partnership with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis: for The Woman I Am, she turned to producer Narada Michael Walden, who wrote the track with Cheryl Norton and Peter Scott, produced and arranged it, and played the drums himself. It’s the same production engine behind Shanice’s “I Hate To Be Lonely” a year later and Lisa Fischer’s Grammy-winning “How Can I Ease The Pain” the same year - keyboardist Louis Biancaniello and engineer David Frazer return on all three.
Cherrelle co-executive-produced the album herself alongside Tabu Records founder Clarence Avant, and while lead singles “Never In My Life” and “Tears Of Joy” carried the album’s chart profile, “Nothing’s Ever Gonna Stop” stayed an album cut - a lower-key showcase for the same Walden/Biancaniello/Frazer sound, here in the hands of an established star working outside her signature partnership.
