Just As I Am
The title track pairs Harvey with keyboardist Gary Prim as a co-writer, alongside Tena Clark, giving it a slightly different musical signature within the album: Gary Lunn plays both bass and drums, David Williams adds guitar, and Crystal Wilson, Theresa Walker and Tony Warren back Harvey’s own vocals.
It’s one of three tracks mixed by Barney Perkins - the same mixer who’d handle Gary Adkins’s “You And Me” three years later, another corner of the archive’s quiet storm world. Recorded by Ryan Greene, who worked on nine of the album’s ten tracks, “Just As I Am” gives the record its name and its emotional center.
