“Show Me” gave Howard Hewett his second Number 2 R&B hit, and it came out of a tight, self-contained unit: Hewett co-wrote the song with keyboardist Terry Coffey and drummer Jon Nettlesbey, who also produced it together, while Horace “Bokie” Coleman filled out the groove on guitar and fretless bass. Alan Meyerson mixed the track, recorded by Cliff Jones and Dennis “Def-Pea” Parker.

That same trio - Coffey, Nettlesbey and Coleman - regrouped two years later as Truth Inc, writing, producing and performing their own self-titled album for Interscope.
