Love U 2 The Limit

The title track of Love U 2 The Limit anchors a five-song run (tracks 4 through 8) that Gary Taylor wrote, produced, and played keyboards on almost single-handedly - a notable credit, since Taylor was a working solo artist in his own right, the voice behind the 1988 quiet storm staple “Tease Me,” and a songwriter/producer sought after by Anita Baker and The Whispers. Derrick McCampbell takes the lead vocal, with brothers Charles, Kelvin and Ray McCampbell filling out the group’s trademark backing harmonies behind him.

Mixed and recorded by Fil Brown, with Ross Donaldson and Tim Kimsey assisting, the track carries the same polished, mid-tempo sophistication that made the group’s sound a fixture of quiet storm radio - a more understated cousin to the Number 1 explosiveness of “Roses Are Red” two years earlier. MCA issued it as the album’s title-track single, with Louil Silas Jr. serving as executive producer, and the archive files it among its slow jams alongside the group’s biggest hits.
